Vasculitis involves inflammation of the blood vessels, potentially leading to organ or tissue damage. Certain types of vasculitis require immunosuppressive infusion therapy to reduce inflammation and prevent flare-ups.

Why Infusion Therapy?

Infusion therapy may be prescribed for RA patients who:

  • To control moderate to severe systemic inflammation
  • To induce remission in ANCA-associated vasculitis
  • As maintenance therapy post-steroids

Common Vasculitis Infusion Medications

Rituxan® (rituximab)

B-cell depleting agent for ANCA-positive vasculitis 
(e.g., GPA, MPA)

Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan®)

Used less frequently, but effective in severe cases

What to Expect

  • Treatment length: Varies from biweekly induction to 6-month maintenance intervals
  • Pre-medications: Often includes steroids and antihistamines
  • Follow-up: Close lab monitoring coordinated with your specialist
